Why become a Shared Lives Carer?
There are many reasons why becoming a Shared Lives carer is an amazing thing to do.
First, it's incredibly rewarding. You'll experience the joy of witnessing someone you care for grow their confidence, try new things and be happy in a safe and loving home. You'll make a friend while making a difference.
In return for your time, you'll receive a generous monthly allowance. This can range from £478 - £494 per week based on the needs of the person you're supporting.
Being a Shared Lives carer can also offer a lot of flexibility and enable you to work from home. We even have carers who carry out their role alongside other part-time jobs.
Formal qualifications or experience aren't necessary to join our Shared Lives service. You just need a big heart, commitment and to be willing to share your home and family life with someone. We'll support you every step of the way. From your initial enquiry right through to being a seasoned carer and beyond. We offer ongoing training, regular at home check-ins and we're always only a phone call away if you need us.
As well as having our team on hand locally, you'll also have the opportunity to become part of a wider community. Shared Lives Plus (opens new window), offers an invaluable nationwide support system for carers. You never have to face challenges on your own and can swap tips and achievements with like-minded people.
