Tyne Tunnel exemption for Blue Badge holders

If you are a Blue Badge holder or if your vehicle is exempt due to a disability, you qualify for free travel through the Tyne Tunnels.

Tyne Pass

Tyne Pass is a new project to progress to Open Road Tolling this November, meaning there will be no need for you to stop; cameras will identify your vehicle registration number as you travel through the Tunnels and will recognise the exemption listed on your account.

If you have a Blue Badge you will continue to receive your exemption but you will need to register your vehicle with Tyne Tunnels. You can do this on the Tyne Tunnels website (opens new window).

Inspection lanes will be available as a temporary measure until your register your vehicle.
