New community woodland

Woodland Trust drop in

Plans are taking shape for a new 26 hectare community woodland to be planted on land between Whickham and Dunston Hill.

We are working with the Woodland Trust to assist them in bringing this project forward.

The Woodland Trust want to get local residents' input and ideas on the new woodland and  are holding a drop in event this Friday, 15 October, from 10am to 4pm.

The venue is the Land of Oak and Iron Heritage Centre at Winlaton Mill, NE21 6RU.

This new woodland is just one part of our emerging borough wide strategy to increase woodland cover and plant more trees in both urban and rural Gateshead.

If you can't attend this drop in, you can still give your ideas on the Woodland Trust consultation site (opens new window).
