A dedicated helpline has been established by the Home Office to support British Nationals and their dependants in Ukraine.
The number for the hotline is 0300 3032785 and the service is open from 8am until 8pm Monday to Friday and 9am until 5.30pm on weekends.

Those wanting to make contributions to support the humanitarian response effort in Ukraine can do so by donating to international organisations, including:

Work Rights Centre
The Work Rights Centre (opens new window) has put together a resource of advice and guidance for people who are currently in Ukraine and are trying to leave, including the latest visa advice.
The resource also details how you can assist Ukrainian residents to leave the country from here in Gateshead.
Homes for Ukraine scheme
The scheme will offer a route to those who want to come to the UK who have someone here willing to provide them with a home.
It will enable individuals, charities, community groups and businesses to volunteer accommodation and provide a route to safety for Ukrainians, and their immediate family members.

Feeding Families - donations for Ukrainian refugees arriving in Gateshead
Feeding Families is based in Blaydon and is able to help with the following items to support hosts of Ukrainian refugees:
- Bedding
- Toiletries
- Food
- Sanitary products
- Nappies and baby food
Donations and collections of donated items can be made at 46 Blaydon Bank, NE21 4AU on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9am-1pm. If you are collecting items, please bring proof of your Homes for Ukraine scheme application.
