Vote for your community heroes
The shortlist for the Gateshead Awards 2022 has been announced and the public are being invited to vote for their winners.
The Gateshead Awards take place annually to recognise the contribution of people within the borough who go the extra mile to help their community and to celebrate all those who make a real difference to the lives of others in Gateshead.
Sheena Ramsey, Chief Executive, Gateshead Council said "Over the last year our communities have continued to do amazing things to help others. Individuals, businesses and voluntary organisations have given invaluable support at a time when people have needed it the most.
"All of our nominees are incredibly inspirational, they show determination to help Gateshead to thrive and they take great pride in supporting their local community. I'd like to encourage everyone to vote for their winners."
The Gateshead Awards 2022 will be sponsored by Gateshead College, Gateshead Regeneration Partnership, Go North East, Hoults Yard, Komatsu, Northgate Vehicle Hire, and Tarmac.
The voting categories for the 2022 awards are:
Maureen Chaplin Sports Achiever of the Year
Volunteer of the Year - sponsored by Go North East
Voluntary/Charitable Organisation - sponsored by Tarmac
Young Achiever of the Year - sponsored by Gateshead College
Sports Club of the Year
Carer of the Year
Music Group/Musician of the Year - sponsored by Northgate Vehicle Hire
Business in the Community Award - sponsored by HY Hubs
The winners will be announced during the awards ceremony which will take place on Wednesday 29 June 2022. The lifetime achievement award, sponsored by Gateshead Regeneration Partnership, and the Armed Forces Community Achiever, sponsored by Komatsu, will also be presented on the night with the winners of these awards having been selected by the shortlisting panel.
