Retail Healthchecks

Retail Healthchecks provide evidence on how our retail centres are performing. They also form part of the Local Plan evidence base, and help Development Management officers make informed decisions on planning applications that affect retail centres. 

The Healthchecks assess vitality and viability of retail centres using information including diversity of uses present, occupied floorspace, and vacancy rates. Data on footfall will also be included. This data shows how many people visited each centre, how long they stayed, and how visitor numbers are recovering following the pandemic. 

Work to update the Council's Retail Healthchecks is ongoing.
