Social value

Social value is about maximising the impact of public expenditure to get the best possible outcomes, and improving the economic, social and environmental wellbeing of the area.

From September 2020, in support of Gateshead Councils agenda, the Council has decided to include a minimum weighted score of 20% for social value in all tenders over £100k.

This will generally take the form of questions in the Social Value Toolkit (Excel doc, 491 KB)(opens new window), which are based on the National Themes, Outcomes and Measures (TOMs). The questions in the TOM Toolkit will be chosen to those considered applicable to the procurement, whilst always maintaining proportionately.
