Carers support services

Gateshead Council and Newcastle Gateshead Clinical Commissioning Group (NGCCG) are working together to support all age carers in Gateshead regardless of the age or condition of the cared for person.  By working together, we support the carers of today and the future, get the right help, in the right place at the right time of need.  The carers services aim to:

• keep carers informed
• support carers to look after their health and wellbeing
• offer carers a break from caring
• raise awareness of the role of carers.

The services engage with carers and their families, health and social care professionals, employers, schools, colleges and universities, communities and other voluntary sector provisions to develop a greater understanding of what carers do and how we can support them to meet their needs.

The contract has 3 lots which are as follows;

• Lot 1 - Young Carers (age under 18 years)
• Lot 2 - Adult Carers (age 18 and over)
• Lot 3 - Carer Relief

End date: April 2024
