Closure of A695 Blaydon Highway for National Highways emergency works
National Highways need to carry out emergency works to repair drainage infrastructure beneath the road bridge which spans the A695 Blaydon Highway.
To allow this urgent work to go ahead, we need to close the following roads to all vehicular traffic from 22:00 tonight, Thursday 16 June, until 06:00 on Friday 17 June 2022.
1. A695 Blaydon Highway - East and westbound carriageways between Blaydon Roundabout through to the A695 Scotswood Bridge
2. A695 Scotswood Bridge - The south exit slip road which leads onto the westbound carriageway of the A695 Blaydon Highway
3. Tundry Way - the exit onto the A695 Blaydon Highway westbound carriageway
4. Toll Bridge Road - the exit onto the A695 Blaydon Highway eastbound carriageway
5. B6317 Chainbridge Road - the slip road onto the eastbound carriageway of the A695 Blaydon Highway
A signed diversion route will be in place to direct all vehicular traffic via Derwenthaugh Road and the B6317 Shibdon Road.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys.
