Great North 10k - road closures required
Road closures will be in place in Gateshead and Newcastle on Sunday (3 July) for the Great North 10k.
A number of new closures will be in force around both sides of the river for the revised route.
Here is the full list of road closures on the south side of the river:
Gateshead (from 6am to 5pm)
- South Shore Road
- Hillgate
- Hillgate Quay access road
- Bridge Street
- Swing Bridge
- PipewellgateCentrelink (bus only lane) - from Autumn Drive to Pipewellgate
- Rabbit Banks Road
The closures may cause some congestion around the race route, but are in place for the minimum possible time.
Fully signposted diversions will be in place but drivers are advised to avoid the affected areas if possible and to allow additional time for journeys.
The event organisers have thanked everyone for their patience and co-operation.
