BALTIC is turning 20 - Join in the celebrations this weekend
BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Gateshead is turning 20 years old, and to celebrate is hosting a packed weekend of activities and special events, running from 10am to 6pm this weekend - Saturday 16 & Sunday 17 July.
The festivities will also spill outside the six-floor building, transforming its outdoor space with art, activities and food and drink. You'll also be able to see 'Art inside a Bus', with the special mobile exhibition 'What's for Tea' parked up in BALTIC's car park.
A free entry Art Car Boot Fair, selling paintings, prints, sculptures and ceramics, will also be taking place outside in BALTIC's car park from 11am to 5pm on both days, with more than 50 local artists setting up stall. There's also alfresco food and drink from special guests Acropolis, Meat:Stack, Little Bao Bar, Palaminos Ice Cream, and North Shore Coffee, plus live DJs from Slack's Radio, who will provide a relaxed summer soundtrack.
Inside the building there are free family activities across the main building's multiple floors, drop-in artist talks and workshops where you have a go at making a zine. Children under five can take part in special fun activities based on break-making. Grab a free cuppa and a cupcake too to toast BALTIC's 20th Birthday!
