Northumbria Police say it is clear to them that this has been done to allow a direct route through the development for criminal activity. Local residents, volunteers and school children have been involved in delivering various improvements on site, including the planting of new woodland as part of the North East Community Forest. The overall aim is to provide a natural, safe, relaxing and green environment for residents to enjoy. An investigation has been launched with a number of lines of enquiry ongoing and police need community assistance in gathering information to identify the offenders, seize vehicles and disrupt the activity.
