Information for registered Warm Spaces

Thank you for registering your venue as a Warm Space and helping relieve the pressure of the cost of living crisis for Gateshead residents. We're very grateful for the work you're doing and hope you're enjoying taking part in the programme, but if you have any issues or need some support please email warmspaces@gateshead.gov.uk.

Warm Spaces Privacy Notice

Help keep the directory up to date

If you need to update the details shown on your entry in the Warm Spaces directory, please email warmspaces@gateshead.gov.uk.

Communications

When you register your Warm Space, the email address you provide will be added to the mailing list for our email newsletter, which is used to share news, training opportunities, guidance and updates from Gateshead Council and other partners across the Warm Spaces network. You can subscribe additional email addresses (opens new window) to the newsletter if there are others involved in running your Warm Space who want to stay up to date.

You can also join the Warm Spaces Network Facebook group (opens new window). This is a closed forum for Warm Space partners to share their experiences, ask questions, make suggestions and offer or ask for practical support, such as a furniture or toy donations.

Support for Warm Spaces visitors

We have brought together information and advice to help families and individuals through the cost of living crisis, including details of payments that they may be eligible for and how to save money on food and energy bills. There's also an online directory of local organisations that can help with issues ranging from benefits and debt to relationships and mental health.

If any of your Warm Space visitors need some help, please direct them to www.gateshead.gov.uk/costofliving or put them in touch with one of the agencies providing support.

Promoting your Warm Space

When you registered, you were sent promotional materials including a poster with space for you to add opening times and other information, a window vinyl, a copy of the Warm Spaces Charter and some suggested social media toolkit. Please use these resources to let members of the public know that they'll be welcomed without judgement at your venue.

We appreciate that many registered venues also offer paid for activities, facilities or refreshments and of course we know it is becoming more costly to run your services and are supportive of your efforts to generate income. However, we do ask you to be mindful of the Warm Spaces ethos of dignity and respect when promoting your venues. In the current climate, we need to be sure that everyone feels confident that they can visit any Warm Space without feeling obliged to pay, or embarrassed that they're not able to. With this in mind, we ask that any paid for offers are promoted separately from your Warm Space offer and that it's made clear that use of the Warm Space is free. Please do not use the Warm Spaces branding when promoting anything with a cost attached.

Warm Welcome - national directory

You may have seen a national directory of Warm Spaces promoted in the media. We'd encourage you to register your venue with the Warm Welcome campaign (opens new window) in addition to your registration with us, so that we can make as many people as possible aware of our fantastic network.

In doing so, you'll be able to access more training materials and useful information to support your valuable work.
