Learning objectives

This Lunch and Learn will explore extremist ideologies including:

  • definitions of extremism
  • characteristics of extremist ideology
  • psychological motivation and susceptibilities
  • pathways to radicalisation

Learning outcomes

By the end of this training, attendees should be able to

  • define extremist ideologies
  • identify the defining characteristics of extremist ideologies
  • explain why individuals with extremist ideologies may be more at risk of terrorism or supporting terrorism
  • explain the non-ideological factors that may contribute to terrorism
  • explain how complex needs interplay with extremist ideologies
  • identify when an individual expressing an extremist ideology should be referred to Prevent
