Aim: To develop awareness of the particular development and protection needs of babies (including unborn babies) and how to meet them more effectively.

Learning objectives

  • To understand more about the vulnerability of babies and what makes some babies particularly vulnerable.
  • To recognise signs that a baby may be at risk of significant harm.
  • To understand the statutory and agency framework for protecting babies, before and after birth.
  • To be able to contribute more effectively to inter-agency assessment and planning
