Find out more about Gateshead Family Hubs this summer

Family Hubs Launch

Families across the borough are being encouraged to find out more about the support and activities on offer this summer at their nearest Family Hub.

To celebrate the Family Hubs offer in Gateshead, the mayor, councillors and partners visited Deckham Family Hub today (Wednesday 2 August) to find out more about the range of services, classes and activities that can be accessed all in one place.

Gateshead Family Hubs provide a welcoming space for families and the wider community, as well as wrap-around support services from 0 to 19 and up to 25 for young people with SEND, since they launched earlier this year.

This includes a free programme of activities and classes for children and young people over the summer break, from access to specialist sensory rooms and state-of-the-art playrooms for younger children to Teenz groups for young people 13 and over.

There are six Family Hubs located across Gateshead, replacing the council's children's centres, as well as three additional community centres offering Family Hubs support in Chopwell, Leam Lane and Wrekenton.

By visiting your local Family Hub, you can gain access to support services from partners across health, social care, employment, and children's services at the council.

We also offer a virtual Start for Life and Family Hub for those who are unable to attend one of our physical locations.
