Design guidelines

digitalservices--styles
How we make our services look like gateshead.gov.uk with guides for applying layout, typography, colour and images.
A checklist for third-party suppliers to ensure their products adhere to our branding and standards. The guide covers elements such as colours, logos and accessibility requirements.

Design guidelines help ensure consistency in the creation of our digital services, from web pages, forms to third party applications.

Consistency

Design guidelines help ensure that every part of the website looks and feels like part of the same product. Having predefined styles, colours, layouts, and patterns, allows the user to navigate the website to find information or complete a task.

Developers (Content and technical)

The guidelines should help the digital team work faster. We do not need to create new elements for the website, instead, refer to the design guidelines.

Scalability

As the website develops, new features and updates can be integrated smoothly. We can more easily test new CSS/designs, components, or patterns with the design guidelines with the live examples in the design guidelines.

Collaboration with third party suppliers

We have a clear set of standards for third party suppliers to refer to when integrating with the design of the website.

Future developments

We will be adding more examples of components and patterns. Also, new developments will be added to help with testing.
