Lowest-paid employees
'Lowest paid employees' is defined as those full-time employees in jobs paid at Grade A at spinal column point 3. It excludes apprentices, whose pay remains subject to other regulations or conditions, and has specific treatment under this policy.
Spinal column point 3, at £11.79 per hour from 1 April 2023, is £0.35 per hour more than the National Living Wage and £0.21 per hour less than the UK Accredited Living Wage (outside London).
- Annual salary at spinal column point 3 is currently £22,737 p.a. pay award pending from 1 April 2024.
- The mode (i.e. most frequently used) salary for full-time employees falls within Grade D, the maximum of which is £24,294. The mode salary will be recalculated post pay award.
- The median salary for full-time employees, excluding overtime and any other additional payments, is £29,777.
