Biodiversity Net Gain, guidance for developers and ecological consultants

Because the general biodiversity gain condition has a separate statutory basis to other planning conditions and is deemed to apply to all planning permissions other than specifically exempted ones, Local Planning Authorities have been instructed not to include it in the list of conditions imposed in the decision notice.

Instead, the decision notice will include information about Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), for which Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) will provide model paragraphs.
