Metrocentre Park and Ride map
Metrocentre Park and Ride map
During the Tyne Bridge restoration works (opens new window) a park and ride will operate for people travelling into Gateshead and Newcastle centres.

The park and ride will be available from Tuesday 2 April 2024 when lane closures are introduced on the Tyne Bridge as part of the restoration works.

The park and ride is in the Metrocentre Staff and Coach Car Park located off A1114 Riverside Way, NE11 9SY. The entrance to the car park is from the roundabout of A1114 and Mandela Way, as shown on the map.

Just follow the signs and park within the designated park and ride area of the car park.

Disabled parking

The disabled parking bays are located immediately after the coach parking.

Cost

It is free of charge to park in the designated park and ride area of the car park. Parking is subject to terms and conditions. Please see signage in the car park for details.

You will need to pay the relevant bus fare to use the bus for onward travel. At the moment fares are £2 per person each way, or £1 if you are under 21, or free of charge from 9.30am if you are a concessionary bus pass holder.

Onward bus travel

You can catch existing service buses which pass by the park and ride. Buses leave every few minutes.

Up until 10am on weekdays you can catch a bus from the bus stop next to the Interchange entrance. After 10am you will need to go into the Interchange building (next to the bus stop), across the bridge and catch a bus from Stand L in the Metrocentre Interchange.

These are the buses you can catch to key destinations:

Bus timetables are available from Go North East timetables and maps (opens new window) or see Traveline plan your journey.

NUFC match days

On NUFC match days, Go North East already run the dedicated X50 service from the same car park. The X50 buses pick you up from within the car park and drop you off outside St James Park and can bring you back after full time. You will need to park in a slightly different part of the car park - please follow the signs.
