Birth registrations to be trialled at Blaydon Winlaton Family Hub

A trial of birth registrations at a second location in Gateshead aims to make it easier for new parents in the west of the borough to register the birth of their child and find out more about the Start for Life offer at Gateshead Family Hubs.
From Tuesday 4 June, parents will be able to register the birth of their child at Blaydon Winlaton Family Hub on Tuesdays (excluding Tuesdays after bank holidays).
Birth registrations will continue to be offered at the Civic Centre Monday to Friday, including still births and baby birth and deaths, which will remain offered only at the Civic Centre to ensure they are undertaken in a timely and sensitive way.
The trial hopes to support new parents to access the range of health and wellbeing services available at Gateshead Family Hubs, as well as enable families in the west of the borough to access the council's registration service locally.
Councillor Gary Haley, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People at Gateshead Council, said: "We're proud to be trialling the extension of our birth registrations service to a second location in Blaydon so that it's more accessible to families in the west of the borough. It's also a fantastic opportunity for them to find out more about the 'Start for Life' offer available at our Family Hubs, which includes mental health support for parents and advice and guidance on how to bond with your new baby."
The trial will run until the end of the year with monthly reviews taking place.
