About
East Boldon Riding School offer a range of activities including:
- construction - an introduction to construction including joinery, bricklaying, building structures
- forestry - fencing, ponds & wetlands, environmental management & preservation
- equestrian, horse care, horse handling (horsemanship), horse management and qualifications
Suitable ages ranges
They accept children from age 6 for equestrian skills and age 13 for multi skills. The maximum age is 25.
Qualifications available
Children can gain the following qualifications:
ABRS/BHS Awards and Qualifications (Equestrian)
John Muir awards (Multi-skills)
About the teaching
All training is carried out at East Boldon Riding School.
Students can attend from locations including Gateshead, Newcastle, Sunderland, South Tyneside and Durham.
Teaching is delivered typically with a ratio of 1 teacher to 5 students with 20 students per class size maximum.
The provision is open from 9.30am to 2.30pm. Students can attend upto 3 days per week (15 hours), until they are ready to engage back into mainstream school.
Transport is not provided.
They are able to provide urgent placements.
Pricing
Cost for sessions are as follows:
- £90 per day
- £19 per hour
East Boldon Riding Centre provide breakfast free of change.
They also offer a significant reduction for multiple placements from the same school setting.

Contact with schools
Once a student has began the provision will contact schools via phone or online e-portfolio to confirm attendance/non-attendance.
They will also notify schools termly to provide feedback for each student.

Insurance
East Boldon Riding School have current public liability cover and insurance certificates are displayed.
They also have current employee liability cover.
Safeguarding
The provision have a compliant safeguarding policy in place which is reviewed every 3 months.
Pre-employment checks are carried out in line with guidance.
The provision has a designated safeguarding lead and there is regular training for all staff at the provision.
Health and safety
East Boldon Riding School have a health and safety policy in place with a designated member of staff trained to Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) standard.
They have full risk assessment for the premises and carry out regular fire drills which are recorded.
They have all required first aid equipment in place in line with RIDDOR procedures (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013).
Data protection
They have a data retention policy in place which is reviewed regularly. Staff also receive regular training.
They have a privacy notice in place that explains how they collect, use and protect people's personal data.
