About

Evolve Sports Academy is an alternative education sports coaching programme. Using sport as a tool, they deliver qualifications in BTEC Sport and Functional Skills to secondary school students who have been excluded/at risk of exclusion from school. Alongside delivering academic qualifications, they have a specific focus on developing young people with fundamental life skills. Their aim is to create an environment where each individual student can achieve their full potential.

In additional to the alternative education programme, they also offer bespoke primary school tutoring and ESOL tutoring.

Primary school tutoring 

They offer bespoke one-to-one or two-to-one tutoring to primary school children with additional needs. This is usually a morning session (9.00am - 10.45am) or afternoon session (2.15pm - 4.00pm) with their experienced staff team.  

ESOL tutoring 

They offer bespoke one-to-one or two-to-one ESOL tutoring to all age groups (including young adults). This is usually a morning session (9.00am - 12.00pm) or afternoon session (12.00pm - 3.00pm) with their experienced staff team.

They provide provision for students that have EHCPS and also students with moderate learning needs. They also cater for SEMH students.

As an organisation, Evolve Sports Academy are able to adapt their programme to meet the needs of all students. All of their sites are accessible for children with disabilities.  

Suitable ages ranges 

Evolve Sports Academy are able to accept children from ages 11 to 16 years old. 

Qualifications available

Children can gain the following qualifications:

• Level 2 in Community Sports Leadership
• Functional Skills Level 1 Maths
• Functional Skills Level 1 English

Students can attend from locations across the North East, Yorkshire and Cumbria. 

Teaching is delivered typically with a ratio of 1 teacher to 4 students. 

The provision is open from 9.30am to 2pm. Students can attend upto 13.5 hours per week (3 days). 

Transport is not provided. 

They are able to provide urgent placements. 

Pricing 

Cost for sessions are as follows:

• £117.50 per day (academic year commitment) or £145 per day (half-term to half-term commitment)

Food and refreshments are included in the price.

How to apply for a place for a student

1. Complete a referral form which can be obtained via Michael Snaith - Director (michaelsnaith@evolvesportsacademy.com).
2. The student, parent/carer, and school will then visit Evolve Sports Academy to conduct an introduction meeting (usually takes 20 - 30 minutes).
3. The student can then start at Evolve Sports Academy

Contact with schools 

Once a student has began their training, daily attendance is communicated via email within 15 minutes of start time. 

They provide detailed weekly reports for each student, detailed half-term reports for each student and weekly contact with all parents/carers.

Insurance 

Evolve Sports Academy have current public liability cover and insurance certificates are displayed. 

They also have current employee liability cover. 

Safeguarding 

Evolve Sports Academy have a compliant safeguarding policy in place which is reviewed yearly. 

Pre-employment checks are carried out in line with guidance. 

The provision has a designated safeguarding lead and there is regular training for all staff at the provision. 

Health and safety 

Evolve Sports Academy have a health and safety policy in place/ 

They have full risk assessment for the premises and carry out regular fire drills which are recorded. 

They have all required first aid equipment in place in line with RIDDOR procedures (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013). 

Data protection

Evolve Sports Academy have a data retention policy in place which is reviewed regularly. Staff also receive regular training. 

They have a privacy notice in place that explains how they collect, use and protect people's personal data.

There is a compliments and complaints policy and procedure in place.
