About

Kip McGrath teach Maths and English, by fully qualified teachers.

They have extensive experience working with students who have SEN and are vulnerable, including students with: ASD, ADHD, Tourette's, anxiety, dyslexia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia, EBD. 

All students have a personalised learning plan; each student is taught one to one within a small group setting, therefore reasonable adjustments are made. The property is multi-level, however the lower ground floor has a narrow staircase with rails both side to help students with mobility issues.

Suitable ages ranges 

Kip McGrath can accommodate children from Year 1 for evening sessions, Year 5 for afternoon sessions and up to children in Year 13. 

Qualifications available

Children can learn Maths and English from KS1 to KS4 and receive GCSE preparation. However there is no exam facility. 

About the teaching

All training is carried out at Gateshead East centre - 6 Regent Terrace, Gateshead, NE8 1LU.

Students can attend from locations including Gateshead post codes NE8, NE9, NE10, Durham post codes, or any other area if you want to place a student with us.

Teaching is delivered typically with a ratio of 1 teacher to 4 students. 

The provision is open from 12noon to 2.15pm, with 2x 1 hour sessions, with a 15 minute break. Students can attend upto 5 days per week.

Transport is not provided. 

Kip McGrath are able to provide urgent placements. 

The length of programme can be adapted to what is required for each student. 

Pricing 

Cost for sessions are as follows:

  • £44 per hour + VAT

Lunch can be provided for £4 per day. 

How to apply for a place for a student

To enrol a student, an initial assessment will have to be booked first. This can be either booked via a phone call to 0191 338 9556 or by the assessment directly on their website.

Please indicate name of the person from your organisation booking the assessment in brackets after the parent/carer's name on the assessment online booking form.

At the assessment a parent/carer will be asked to complete an enrolment form, to provide full information on the student, including full name, address, DOB, parent/carer contact details (phone & address), plus any medical, reasonable adjustments or SEN needs.

Contact with schools 

Once a student has began their training, daily and weekly attendance reports are available via email. 

Weekly activity reports are available upon request. More detailed progress reports are also available upon request.

Ofsted registered 

They are registered with OFSTED as an After School Club, on the voluntary child care register. 

Insurance 

Kip McGrath have current public liability cover and insurance certificates are displayed. 

They also have current employee liability cover. 

Safeguarding 

Kip McGrath have a compliant safeguarding policy in place which is reviewed yearly. 

Pre-employment checks are carried out in line with guidance. 

The provision has a designated safeguarding lead and there is regular training for all staff at the provision. 

Health and safety 

Kip McGrath have a health and safety policy in place.

They have full risk assessment for the premises and carry out regular fire drills which are recorded. 

They have all required first aid equipment in place in line with RIDDOR procedures (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013). 

Data protection

Kip McGrath have a data retention policy in place which is reviewed regularly. Staff also receive regular training. 

They have a privacy notice in place that explains how they collect, use and protect people's personal data.
