Society Matters CIC: Career Kickstart
Working with economically inactive Gateshead residents aged 18 and above. Participants must be economically inactive and live in the borough of Gateshead. Not eligible to those who have no recourse to public funds.
Participants will complete a five-day training course focused on building confidence, team work, communication and soft skills. Applying these skills to a call centre environment, as part of the training will include shadowing advisers at one of Citizens Advice Gateshead's call centres. Towards the end of the course participants will be assisted in developing their CVs and practising interview techniques. A holistic needs assessment is carried out to identify any barriers or difficulties a participant may be experiencing to gaining employment. Reasonable adjustments and if needed intensive wraparound support will be provided to overcome those barriers to employment.
Post course follow-on support is provided, until March 2025, to help the participant progress with their journey towards employment if not already obtained, or maintain their employment if achieved. All participants who successfully complete the course will be guaranteed a job interview with Citizens Advice Gateshead or another local employer.
No official qualification will be achieved but participants will complete GDPR training as part of the course and will receive a certificate upon successful completion of the whole course.
