Social work progression
Progression is the process of developing or moving gradually towards a more advanced state in your social work career and should not be seen as a one off event but as continuous professional development. Our social work progression route handbook outlines what we expect of you, and how we will support you in achieving and demonstrating work-based learning which is required to progress professionally.
As part of your personal development we offer staff the opportunity to access Post Qualifying Modules through our Higher Education Institutes. The post qualifying modules can be completed as individual modules. Or by completing a number of modules at the same HEI you can achieve your post graduate certificate.
Some modules on offer:
- Northumbria University - Safeguarding Children and Young People, Trauma Informed Practice, Practice Educator 1 and 2, Mental Capacity Act and Independent Work Based Study.
- Sunderland University - Safeguarding Children and Young People, Practice Education 1 and 2.
- Sussex University - Trauma Informed Practice, Social Work Innovation and Autism and Learning Disability.
- Durham University - Practice Education 1 and 2.
We also offer support for our Practice Educators support to be their best. We offer access to resources such as Social Work Theory Cards and other resources that would be useful to use with their student placements. We offer a Practice Educator forum ran by internal staff which is a safe space to ask for peer support and advice.
