The Kayaks Community: Family Fun Sessions
About
The Kayaks Community run family fun sessions every Saturday 1pm-4pm at Mortimer Community Centre on Reading Road, South Shields, NE34 4UG. During school holidays they are open from 12pm.
These sessions are open to all children and young people aged up to 25 years of age who have a disability, special educational needs (SEN), social emotional or mental health (SEMH). They have a wide variety of additional needs and disabilities including: Autism (ASD), learning difficulties, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Marfan's Syndrome, Downs Syndrome, Epilepsy, Emotional Difficulties to name a few.
They have a wide range of activities on each week: pool, bouncy castle, bikes, trikes, basketball, football, sports day activities, arts and crafts, toddler play area with toddler bouncy castle. All they ask is that parents and carers know where their children are and are aware of their child's needs. They are open to all families in the North East but don't worry if you live further afield and are interested. If you have any other interests and would like them to offer it they can always try.
KAYAKS do not charge for our Saturday family sessions, however, Mortimer Community Centre do charge a small cover of £2. Kayaks do not receive any of this charge.
