Gateshead Council launch sheltered accommodation webpages
We are delighted to announce the launch of the sheltered schemes interactive webpages that will allow customers to browse through available accommodation, filter options to suit their needs, and apply for housing online.
Gateshead currently has 36 sheltered schemes, consisting of a total of 1433 properties. The Sheltered Schemes Programme is designed to help older people to live independently, but still receive the support and guidance they need.
Councillor Chris Buckley, Cabinet Member for Housing said:
Our offer of an online platform is an exceptional benefit for our residents and their families who are looking into the prospect of Sheltered Accommodation. It will be great to see the impact of this digital asset over the coming months."
Service Manager of Housing and Neighbourhood Services, Thomas Sutton said:

This website lays the groundwork for further marketing campaigns we can undertake to increase interest in our many older persons housing schemes."
All schemes benefit from communal lounges where our Sheltered Scheme Officers support a programme of activities to help tackle social isolation and encourage a sense of community.
The page allows customers to filter age ranges, areas of Gateshead, property features, and use the interactive map to see exactly where which scheme is based.
