Field of Remembrance 2024
The Field of Remembrance and the planting of the crosses began today at Gateshead's Saltwell Park. Gateshead is celebrating the honour of hosting the Field of Remembrance for the twelfth year in a row, the only event of its kind in the whole of Northern England.
Planning for this event takes place all year, and Gateshead Council would like to give a huge thanks to The Royal British Legion and the Technical Service Team.
Without the hard work of the Technical Service Team, none of this would be possible.
Extra volunteers began work in the morning, and they were joined by the Mayor of Gateshead who helped plant crosses and paid her respects to those who lost their lives serving our country.
The Field of Remembrance is on display just outside of Saltwell Towers, and anyone is welcome to come visit for a quiet moment.
The Dedication Ceremony will take place at the Field of Remembrance on Saturday 2 November 2024 at 10.45am. Everyone is welcome to attend.
