    This blog talks about how we are putting the people of Gateshead at the heart of everything we do, how we are working hard to help residents, businesses and local communities to thrive now and in the future and I'll talk about topical issues affecting our borough. 

    I was elected as a councillor for Gateshead in 1984 and have served various roles during this time. I've been Leader of the Council since 2016. 

    Having lived in Gateshead most of my life I'm incredibly proud and honoured to represent the borough and am determined that, as a Council, we do everything we can to help everyone in Gateshead have the opportunity to thrive.
