Tyne Bridge overnight closures 4th-6th November

The Tyne Bridge will be closed to traffic for three nights next week as work continues on the restoration programme for the historic structure.
The closures will take place from Monday 4th November to Wednesday 6th November, from 8pm until 6am,
The A167 across the bridge will be closed to allow contractors to install temporary lighting on the west footway and safely dismantle scaffolding around the parapet and the 'kittiwake hotel' scaffold on the Gateshead tower.
Pedestrians and cyclists will still be able to use the bridge but will be diverted on to the carriageway around the works.
Esh Construction is carrying out the work on behalf of Newcastle and Gateshead Councils.
The four-year restoration programme is expected to be complete in summer 2028, ahead of the bridge's centenary in October 2028.
