Gateshead Council recognised as top employer
We're pleased to announce that we've been named as one of the best organisations to work for in 2024.
Based on employee feedback, the council has been recognised by employee engagement specialists Best Companies as:
- 16th in the list of top 25 big companies to work for in the UK
- 20th in the list of top 25 companies to work for in the not for profit sector
- 25th in the list of top 100 companies to work for in the North East
- "One to Watch" - an organisation whose employee engagement levels show promising signs for the future
Positions on these prestigious lists were awarded based on a survey carried out earlier this year, which gave employees across all of our teams and departments the opportunity to anonymously share how they feel about working for the council. Questions covered themes including leadership, pay and personal development.
Gateshead Council's Chief Executive Dale Owens said: "The strength of Gateshead is the people of Gateshead and that includes our own passionate and hardworking teams. Our goal is to be an employer of choice, delivering quality services through a healthy, engaged and motivated workforce and these accolades show that we are certainly heading in the right direction.
However, we're not complacent and we'll continue to work towards offering an even better employee experience. We've recently launched a new workforce equality, diversity and inclusion strategy, we're reviewing our personal development processes, refreshing our organisational values and we're regularly introducing new employee benefits, including discounts on a range of products and services.
Being recognised as one of the best organisations to work for both regionally and nationally is a fantastic achievement and I hope that this news encourages anyone seeking a new opportunity to consider a career with Gateshead Council."
