About

Empowher CIC currently operate alternative provisions across the Northeast, with locations in Durham city centre and Hartlepool. These include training in beauty therapy, bricklaying, café operations, and boxing education.

They offer qualifications in hospitality, catering, customer service, beauty therapy, bricklaying, and boxing. They are now looking to expand our alternative provision to Newcastle and Gateshead. This will include hospitality and customer service training, with opportunities to progress onto an apprenticeship upon completion. They will also offer food hygiene and cooking skills as part of the programme.

The sessions will run from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. Monday - Friday. Students will begin the day with an hour of fitness before moving on to developing skills in their chosen area whether this is learning how to prepare a menu, learning waiter skills, customer service and all aspects of working within the hospitality sector. All students will complete a Level 1 qualification.

Suitable ages ranges 

Children can attend from ages 12 to 17 years old. 

Qualifications available

Children can gain the following qualifications:

• Level 1 Customer service Food hygiene
• Level 1 Food preparation and cooking

On completion Empowher CIC will be able to offer an apprenticeship within the same venue.

About the teaching

All training is carried out in Newcastle/Gateshead. 

Students can attend from locations across the North East. 

Teaching is delivered typically with a ratio of 1 teacher to 5 students.

The provision is open from 9.30am to 2.30pm. Students can attend upto 15 hours per week. 

Transport is available. 

Empowher CIC are able to provide urgent placements. 

Students can attend the programme until they finish school.

Cost for sessions are as follows:

• £100 per full day session

How to apply for a place for a student

You can make initial contact by email or phone and complete an application form. 

Contact with schools 

Once a student has began their training, Empowher will email schools on a daily basis to confirm attendance/non-attendance. 

They will also provide a report each term for each student.

Insurance 

Empowher CIC have current public liability cover and insurance certificates are displayed. 

They also have current employee liability cover. 

Safeguarding 

Empowher CIC have a compliant safeguarding policy in place which is reviewed regularly. 

Pre-employment checks are carried out in line with guidance. 

The provision has a designated safeguarding lead and there is regular training for all staff at the provision. 

Health and safety 

Empowher CIC have a health and safety policy in place with a designated member of staff trained to Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) standard. 

They have full risk assessment for the premises and carry out regular fire drills which are recorded. 

They have all required first aid equipment in place in line with RIDDOR procedures (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013). 

Data protection

Empowher CIC have a data retention policy in place which is reviewed regularly. 

They have a privacy notice in place that explains how they collect, use and protect people's personal data.
