Gambling Act 2005

We issue premise licences for casinos, betting offices, race tracks, bingo clubs, adult gaming centres (over 18s only) and family entertainment centres (which have machines that children can use).

We also issue permits for gaming machines in members' clubs and licensed premises, gaming in members' clubs, prize gaming and unlicensed family entertainment centres and registers small society lotteries.

Review of Gateshead Council's Gambling Statement of Principles

Under Section 349 of the Gambling Act 2005 all Local Authorities are required to produce a 'Statement of Licensing Principles' which sets out the policies and principles that the Council will apply when carrying out its functions under the Act.

We are reviewing our Gambling Statement of Principles which came into force in January 2022.
