Level 2 Health Care Science

Requirements
- Level 1 Maths and English, with Level 2 attempted or GCSEs C/4 or above
- a minimum of 30 hours working week
- work within a hospital, general practice or other health setting
- 15 months on programme and 3-month window for End Point Assessment. Must be employed for 18 months
- completion of the Level 2 Diploma in Healthcare Science
- 'off the job' training must be provided, a minimum of 6 hours a week (355 for a 15-month apprenticeship)
- support from an employment mentor with monthly reviews every 4 weeks
What you'll do at work
- perform a range of routine technical and scientific procedures and services in accordance with standard operating procedures, policies and protocols
- select and prepare equipment and the environment for healthcare science procedures
- carry out stock control of healthcare science equipment and consumables
- support the provision of clinical care delivered to individuals and maintain client confidentiality
- communicate effectively with individuals
- record, report and store information adhering to information governance and confidentiality requirements
- support a multidisciplinary healthcare team
- maintain a healthy, safe and secure workplace
- contribute to audit, innovation or research within scope of own role
- maintain and develop own competence
Assessment methods
- workplace and remote tutor meetings
- independent research and written answers
- reflective accounts
- professional discussion
- observations in the workplace
- witness testimonies completed by mentor and service users
End point assessment
End point assessment will take place in the final 3 months, dependant on learner progress. The assessment will consist of:
- professional discussion underpinned by portfolio of evidence
- observation of practice with questions
