Level 2 Early Years

Requirements
- Level 1 Maths and English, with Level 2 attempted or GCSEs C/4 or above
- a minimum of 30 hours working week, working with age group 0-5 years old
- 12 months on programme and 3-month window for End Point Assessment. Must be employed for 15 months
- 'off the job' training must be provided, a minimum of 6 hours a week
- support from an employment mentor with monthly reviews
What you'll do at work
- explore roles and development opportunities in early years settings
- child development from birth to 7 years 21
- safeguarding babies and young children in early years settings
- support health and safety in early years settings
- promote wellbeing in early years settings
- support effective communication in early years settings
- support activities, purposeful play and educational programmes
- understand how to support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities
- work with parents, colleagues and other professionals in early years settings
Assessment methods
- taught session at Gateshead Interchange weekly on Thursday mornings from 9.30 to 11.30am, term time only
- observations in the workplace
- witness testimonies completed by mentor
- professional discussions.
End point assessment
End point assessment will take place in the final 3 months, dependant on learner progress. The assessment will consist of:
- professional discussion underpinned by portfolio of evidence
- knowledge test
