Level 4 Learning and Skills Mentor

Requirements
- Level 2 Maths and English
- employed for a minimum of 30 hours working week
- regular weekly mentor to mentee engagement, providing structured reviews, goal and target setting, monitoring of progress and feedback to relevant professionals
- minimum of 3 formal observations of practice captured while on programme
- 12 months on programme and 3-month window for End Point Assessment - must be employed for full duration of apprenticeship
- 'off the job' training must be provided, a minimum of 6 hours a week
- support from an employment mentor with monthly reviews.
What you'll do at work
- roles and responsibilities of a mentor, understanding the organisational and professional boundaries
- mentoring theory and models, plus how to apply this theory to practice
- methods of communication to maintain the mentoring relationship
- how to plan for mentoring sessions and review and revise action plans
Assessment methods
- monthly taught session online (timetabled subject to needs of staff/apprentice)
- online learning via Google Classroom
- observations of mentoring engagement
- reflective assignments with product evidence relevant to mentoring role and professional responsibilities
- professional discussions
End point assessment
End point assessment will take place in the final 3 months, dependant on learner progress. The assessment will consist of:
- professional discussion underpinned by portfolio of evidence
- observation of mentoring practice, followed by Q and A
