Level 5 Learning and Skills Teacher Apprenticeship

Requirements
- Level 2 Maths and English
- vocational area of expertise - for example, if delivering Digital programmes the individual would have relevant qualifications and industry knowledge
- employed for a minimum of 30 hours working week, delivering training/teaching to age 16+ learners
- regular weekly engagement of teaching and assessment practices
- minimum of 3 formal observations of practice captured while on programme
- 18 months on programme and 3-month window for End Point Assessment. Must be employed for full duration of apprenticeship
- 'off the job' training must be provided, a minimum of 6 hours a week
- support from an employment mentor with monthly reviews
What you'll do at work
- pedagogical theory and how to apply this theory to practice
- principles of designing, planning, and organising curriculum
- methods for creating and adapting inclusive learning resources
- application of principles and practices of assessment and feedback
- behaviour management and barriers to learning, and ways to overcome them and adapt teaching
- coaching and mentoring principles and techniques
Assessment methods
- term time weekly taught session at Gateshead Interchange Mon or Thurs 4-6pm (subject to needs of staff/apprentice)
- online learning via Google Classroom
- observations of teaching and coaching engagement
- reflective assignments with product evidence relevant to planning, teaching, assessment
- professional discussions
End point assessment
End point assessment will take place in the final 3 months, dependant on learner progress. End point assessment will consist of:
- professional discussion underpinned by portfolio of evidence
- observation of teaching practice, followed by Q&A
