Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools

Requirements
- already working in a school as a Teaching Assistant
- completed Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
- if not working in a school, must have been accepted on placement in a school of their choice. Placement must be for one full day or two half days per week
Content
- communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults

- promote children and young people's positive behaviour
- develop professional relationships with children, young people and adults
- promote equality, diversity and inclusion in work with children and young people
- support assessment for learning
- engage in personal development in health, social care or children's and young people's settings
- support children and young people's health and safety
- understand child and young person development
- understand how to safeguard the well being of children and young people
- plan and deliver learning activities under the direction of the teacher
- Support disabled children and young people and those with special educational needs.
Teaching
Taught session at Gateshead Civic Centre Headwork's room weekly.
Tuesdays 4.30 -6.30
Assessment methods
- written assignments
- observations in the workplace
- witness testimonies completed by mentor
- professional discussions
Costs
If the learner is earning less than £25,000 the cost of the course will be covered by the government and is free to the learners. If the learner is earning more than £25,000 the cost is £2225.
