Course overview

Do you want to learn how to support your child's language and communication development? This course aims to guide you through ideas and strategies you can use at home to help your child to listen and communicate better. You will find out about how relationships, activities and environments can influence your child's development and what you can do to help and support your child. You will also find out about barriers to learning and how you can overcome these. The course aims to provide a supportive environment where you will have the opportunity to meet other parents and share ideas.

Course content

You will find out about the stages of development and how you can support your child at each stage. You will make a range of resources to support communication and language development including puppets, barrier games, board games, sensory bottles and how you can create a language rich environment at home.

You will learn about how play activities, cooking, reading, singing nursery rhymes and creating positive relationships will support your child's language development. Your child will join you for some of the session and you will make resources together which can be taken away to support your child's learning and development at home.  

Who this course is for

Parents/carers and relatives of school age children.  

Materials and equipment

None

Assessment

Your tutor will assess your work and photograph the things you have made as evidence of your hard work. You will work on targets together to show your learning over the course.

This course is not accredited.
