Programme overview
This 10 week course will refresh and build on your existing computer skills and knowledge. It will help you gain confidence using a laptop, tablet or iPad and improve your digital skills for everyday life.
Programme content
Use the Internet to search for information. Use online services, for example GP, NHS, council, government.
- being safe and responsible online - spot scams, fake news and feel confident browsing the internet - learn about password security, precautions against viruses and secure payment methods
- communicating - use email and email attachments
- create and make changes to documents using Word (word processing) and Excel (spreadsheets)
- create files and folders to save and organise your work
- use applications (Apps)
Who this course is for
Learners who have some basic computer skills/knowledge and would like to refresh and develop these.
Experience and knowledge needed
Basic knowledge of your laptop, iPad or tablet.
Materials and equipment
You can bring your own laptop, tablet or iPad or you can borrow a device from the venue if you do not have your own. Handouts with step by step instructions are given to support your learning.
Assessment
You will be assessed by achievement of your personal and course goals- tutor observation and questioning, self assessment, practical demonstrations of ICT use.
