Course hours

108 hours. Some homework tasks such as reading and practicing at home will help with your development. Course attendance is important so that you do not miss out on valuable learning information.

Programme overview

This course is for anyone wishing to gain independence in book reading and story-telling skills.   

The aim of this course is to develop your creativity and gain new skills and knowledge around Reading, Writing, Listening, Maths, and ICT.  You will be given opportunities to experiment with different materials and express yourself through craft and art associated with chapters in the book. Different techniques and methods will be used, inspiration will be taken from the book. Reading will help to improve short and long-term memory and develop thinking skills.  You will expand your vocabulary and learn new words and understand their definitions.

Programme content

This is a book club with a difference! Learners will be captivated in reading and listening to stories which fascinate and engage their imagination. During the sessions the learners will not only read or listen to amazing stories, activities will include making clay characters, puppets, storyboards, artwork, photographs, role play and much more. 

Developing ideas, exploring characters, plots and themes through discussions. 

Who this course is for

This course is for mixed ability adult learners with special educational needs and disabilities. 

Materials and equipment

All materials and equipment are supplied for this course. 

Assessment

You will be assessed through classroom observations, written and practical work, feedback, peer support and achievable target setting. 

Accreditation 

This course is not accredited.
