Jake's story


Since 2017, Jake has been an Admin Assistant at Careline Lifestyles. Jake's role involves everything from photocopying and shredding to creating ID badges and induction packs for new members of staff. Recently, he's also taken on helping Careline colleagues use the company's training software.
When our team first met Jake, we supported him to find volunteering opportunities so he could gain more workplace experience. Once he'd grown his on-the-job skills, we then supported Jake to prepare for his interview with Careline.
Jake aced his interview and has been a fantastic addition to the Careline team ever since, growing his confidence and skills.
When we asked Jake about his journey he shared: "GATES is a great service. Without them, I don't think I would have found a paid job. My employment support worker supported me at my interview and has been on hand when I've needed it since. People with disabilities have the right to work and GATES help make sure they can."
