Sunday trading

We enforce legislation relating to shops and other businesses trading on a Sunday. 

Sunday trading rules came into force in 1994. The rule allows small shops in England with a floor area of up to 280 square metres (3,014 square feet) to choose their own Sunday opening hours.

Large shops with a floor area greater than this limit can open for 6 continuous hours between 10.00 and 18.00 on a Sunday, and they must display the opening hours on the premises.
