Rabies

Gateshead Council contributes to the Rabies Control Plan on behalf of the Tyne and Wear Authorities. 

The plan has been written in conjunction with the Emergency Planning Unit and other partner organisations such as the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs ( DEFRA ) and the Police. The plan outlines roles and responsibilities in the event of an outbreak of the disease. The plan will be activated when a suspected case of Rabies has been identified or reported to the Authority.
