Public Funerals
For guidance on accessing a deceased person's records please refer to Accessing a deceased person's records - Gateshead Council
We have a duty to dispose of a deceased body under the provisions of the National Assistance and the Public Health (Control of Disease) Acts 1948 (opens new window), if the person:
- died leaving no assets
- has no relatives who can make funeral arrangements.
Services are not conducted for public funerals and the ashes are scattered in the Garden of Remembrance.
The following provides data on public funerals that are held in Gateshead. This information will be updated every six months.
