A metal flag sign near Scotswood Bridge depicting a rower and his oar marking the start of the modern races.
A series of signage features mark the location of the historical Blaydon Rowing Races near Scotswood and the beginning and end of the modern Rowing races that take place on the Tyne near Ryton.
The metal flag sign near Scotswood Bridge was commissioned to celebrate the historical event of the 19c Rowing races which took place in the area. The location for this artwork marks the race course that was the former course of 19c rowing and near to Derwenthaugh where Harry Clasper worked, and marks the Start of the Modern Races.
The Oar and Rower sign at Ryton Riverside marks the 'finish' post for the current races that take place and is situated inside the field area behind the existing fence. The sculpture is made from steel and measures 4m in height.
