Garden of remembrance
Birtley crematorium has a garden of remembrance. This is a tranquil, landscaped garden where you will be able to reflect and remember your loved one in privacy. Many of the walks and borders in the formal part of the garden are edged with special kerbstones to which commemorative plaques can be attached.
Floral tributes
Floral tributes will remain on display for three nights following the funeral. After the third night we will remove the flowers for recycling/disposal, unless otherwise instructed. This is at the discretion of the Cremation Authority. We do not accept any responsibility for tributes left at the crematorium after a funeral service or placed in the Garden of Remembrance.
Car parking
There is a limited number of parking spaces available within the crematorium grounds. If this area is full, crematorium staff will direct traffic to park on Windsor Road outside of the crematorium.
Public toilets
Toilets at Birtley Crematorium are situated in the Book of Remembrance room, which is opposite the chapel.
Dogs
No dogs, other than guide dogs, will be allowed in crematoria buildings. Dogs can be taken into the grounds but must be kept on a short leash and any fouling must be removed and disposed of correctly.
